Dokdo
Overview
Turning Cultural Identity Into a Contemporary Fashion Brand. A self-initiated clothing brand created to bring the name and identity of Dokdo into contemporary culture through design. Rather than relying on direct political messaging, the brand uses fashion, typography, geographic references, and a visual system inspired by the Korean Taegeukgi to build awareness through everyday products and digital experiences.

New York • Independent Fashion Brand
Expressing Place and Identity Through Design. The brand began with a simple idea: make Dokdo visible through culture rather than explanation alone. Geographic coordinates, Korean visual references, and the structural rhythm of the Taegeukgi became the foundation of a graphic language that could communicate identity without depending on literal imagery.
Geographic Identity
Uses Dokdo’s coordinates and place references as recurring visual elements across products and communication.
Taegeukgi-Inspired System
Reinterprets the geometry and rhythm of the Korean flag’s trigrams into a modern graphic system.

Turning the Brand System Into Something People Can Wear. The identity was designed to live directly on the clothing rather than simply appear as a logo. Each shirt explores different combinations of coordinates, symbols, typography, and Taegeukgi-inspired patterns, creating individual pieces that still belong to one recognizable visual family.
Graphic Collections
Builds variation through different compositions while maintaining a consistent underlying visual system.
Identity Beyond the Logo
Extends the brand into sleeves, hems, backs, labels, and patterns so identity becomes part of the garment itself.
Extending a Graphic Fashion Identity Into E-Commerce. The website was designed as a continuation of the clothing rather than a separate retail layer. Monochrome layouts, oversized typography, unconventional image crops, and minimal navigation create an editorial experience that keeps the brand language visible from discovery through purchase.
Editorial Commerce
Combines product imagery and expressive typography to create a browsing experience closer to a fashion editorial than a conventional store.
End-to-End Brand System
Connects identity, apparel, photography, and commerce through one consistent design language.
